The Raider Roast is the refreshment stand in the SHS that is open from periods one through three, and students are starting to go there more and more.
As most people know, the Raider Roast serves a variety of coffee and other refreshments during the morning, provided you have the money to pay for them. They have two new specials each month, and they are usually based around holidays during that month or based off the time of year.
The Raider Roast staff is comprised of students, and it is meant to focus on their vocational skills. It is tailored to each student’s individual needs, and they get to work on these each morning. They also have fifteen other places throughout Zelienople and Harmony in which the students can work on vocational skills, including the local Walgreens and Dairy Queen.
Another place much like the Raider Roast is the Seneca Square. “The Raider Roast also has a sister project in the IHS called the Seneca Square, which sells smoothies and other things of the sort,” says Mrs. Wimer, the transition specialist at Raider Roast.
They are also doing a toiletry drive with a coffee incentive. When you turn in a toiletry item, you may enter to win a free coffee during the month of December. You may enter multiple times, but you only have the opportunity to win one coffee. Items they are collecting include deodorant, dry shampoo, regular shampoo, chapstick, shaving cream, brushes, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hair ties.
The Raider Roast also got a new iced coffee machine as well, which they are very proud of. It looks very well put together, and students seem to enjoy it. It is made by a company known as Stok, and a representative from the company will be in school on November21 from 8 to 10:15 a.m. to give free samples to all students and staff. Stop by to get some free coffee before Thanksgiving break!
