This Friday’s football game at NexTier Stadium against North Allegheny will be a Pink Out in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This game is the final varsity home game for the 2023 season and students are already getting ready to go all out wearing pink everything. These games are a great place to socialize in the student section and cheer on the football team. Emily Kokel, a former Seneca Valley student, said, “These games can cause a lot of drama, but I am excited to have a good time with my friends and hang out in the student section.”
To make the games more exciting, the student section sells little bags of colored powder to throw in the air all at once to get everyone excited and colorful. These games can be messy but it’s all a part of cheering for our team.
The junior class officers were selling $12 pink T-shirts at the end of September for students and staff to wear on Thursday before the game. Mrs. McGourty, the junior class advisor, said, “Selling the shirts was meant to be a fundraiser for the junior officers for prom, but we are donating $1 from each shirt to Cancer Bridges.” Selling the pink shirts for the Pink Out is for a good cause and helps with funding the prom. All the students that are wearing the shirts are going to represent great school spirit and support.
With Friday marking the final home game of the season, students are equally excited and sad. As Kaitlin Brozewicz-Fullerton said, “It’s so sad we have to wait a whole year for more football games after this Friday.” Hopefully everyone stops by the pink out game and has a great time.
