On Friday, Oct. 6, before the Homecoming football game at NexTier Stadium, Miles Bowman and Kara Pasquale were announced as Seneca Valley’s 2023 Homecoming King and Queen.
Throughout September, voting took place to select the 2023-2024 Homecoming Court. Students chose the most commendatory people in the school who they believe deserve to be in the running for Homecoming King and Queen. On September 15, all 20 students selected for the court were announced.
Chair of Homecoming Court, Asha Vellody, shared how much work was put into organizing Homecoming Court. Before the court was announced, a month of planning was put in place. Lots of poster making, scheduling, and ordering sashes and flowers went into Vellody’s schedule. She said, “It was a lot of work, but it was so fun doing it. I had a wonderful time working with the students on the court. They are wonderful people and did an amazing job representing the student body.” She also credited her co-chair, Gizelle Salsa, for helping the process to run smoothly.
After the game on Friday, Homecoming Court member, Ayla Ward, shared a little bit about her experience, saying she was “grateful for the experience and loved being around all those incredible people.” Ward also mentioned how it was a great way to start off her senior year.
For Homecoming Queen, Kara Pasquale, it meant more to her than just a crown. Pasquale said being crowned queen meant, “Representing my teammates (volleyball and softball), my friends and classmates.” She also recognized her family who has taught her how to work hard and be a leader. Pasquale said, “Being voted as queen validates that and allows me to share that with all of my loved ones.”
Homecoming Court brought a lot of attention to the game, as usual, and juniors are looking forward to who their court members will be next year.
