Seneca Valley’s annual Homecoming Carnival took place on October 5th including booths from different clubs, games, and food.
Every year, Seneca Valley holds a Homecoming carnival and parade. The 2023 Seneca Valley Homecoming Carnival took place from 5 to 7pm last Thursday. There were many different food options and games to play. The carnival was not only full of Seneca Valley High School students of all grades, but also many little kids and families.
The Carnival featured a wide variety of booths including JROTC, SV Cheer and Dance, Varsity Football, LEAD, Sophomore Class Officers, National Honors Society, Cross Country, Track and Field, Choral Boosters, Theatre Boosters, Swim and Dive, Band Boosters, Youth and Government, Boys Golf, Orchestra, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, and more. The activities were endless, and people of all ages appeared to be having a lot of fun. The carnival concluded at 7pm with the start of the parade.
With the start of the parade, Seneca students and families lined the road as it began. The Homecoming Parade featured parade floats from different activities and organizations. The Parade included JROTC, Marching Band, Color Guard, Cheer and Dance, a variety of SV sports teams, Chorus, Orchestra, and of course, the Homecoming Court. While some floats featured the classic SV colors of black and blue, others featured purple, due to the Lavender Haze Homecoming theme. Some floats were even playing Taylor Swift music.
Damien Wiedmeyer, a junior in the Color Guard, said, “It was a lot of fun. My favorite part was being able to spin the routines for my friends. I was really happy about that.”
When the parade concluded, everyone made their way down to the football field for the half-time performance featuring the Marching Band and Color Guard. The night ended with fireworks.
Overall, the Homecoming Carnival and Parade were successful. It was a great way to get together as a school and celebrate.
