Friday is finally the day when the famous Donald Trump makes his way into office, but it is that easy?

January 20, 2017, at 11:30 in the morning, the process of swearing in future President Trump will have commenced on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The amount of controversy sounding this inauguration has been a substantial amount but of course, the show must go on.

An astounding 800,000 to 900,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration to watch this monumental event. As those hundreds of thousands of people wait for the swearing in ceremony to commence, they will have the privilege of watching many musical performances from The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, The Radio City Rockettes, The Missouri State University Chorale, Jackie Evancho, and more.

There had been a lot of talk concerning many aspects of the inauguration, one including the unfortunate situation when the 88-year-old man, Charles Brotman, was fired by Trump on January 8, 2017. Charles Brotman had been the inaugural parade announcer since 1957 and had fully intended to continue his streak with the Trump election as well. When Brotman opened his email he claimed to have “felt like Muhammad Ali had hit [him] in the stomach.”

As the inauguration takes place, Trump was sworn in as the 45^th president of the United States of America as 900,000 people watched. Although Trump did not bring in the estimated 1.8 million people that Obama did eight years ago, he did attract the number they expected to be there.

Trump’s inaugural address was shorter than expected but mentioned certain things such as “now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people,” and graciously thanked the Obama family, “we are grateful to President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition.”

Protesters have wreaked havoc on downtown Washington D.C. “Protesters just smashed the windows of this limo, threw in a flare,” tweeted Zoe Tillman at 10:31am. Other demonstrators echoed the slogan “hands up, don’t shoot” which was created after the incident when police shot and killed Michael Brown in Missouri in 2014.

Despite the trouble they attempted to cause, trump supporters claimed that they would not let the protesters ruin the day for them.

Friday January 20, 2017, marks a day to remember is America’s history. This election has had its difficulties and its positive points but in the end, we had our 45^th President of the United States sworn in. Now all there is to do is patiently wait for Donald Trump to “make America great again!”
