The question of who to vote for has been on the minds of everyone prepared to vote, so who would the people who aren’t old enough to vote yet vote for?

I went around asking various people around my age the same question, “If you could vote, who would you vote for and why?” Everyone had their own opinions and even though I went into these interviews with no expectations, I can’t say that I was shocked by the responses.

We hear from our parents, relatives, and any other adult we happen to be listening to, that this election is a tough one to choose a president from. We hear them weigh the pros and the cons, discuss the problems, and eventually we hear who they are leaning towards.

For the rest of us who can’t vote yet, the way we look at this election is a little different. While we have these opinions and favor certain candidate qualities, the way we think about the election is only an opinion. We cannot act on our decision, but we have these opinions nonetheless.

I interviewed fourteen people ranging from the ages of 15 to 17. The end results came out to be 36 percent were in favor of Trump, 28 percent were in favor of Hillary, and the last 36 percent said they didn’t care or they wouldn’t vote because they didn’t like either of them.

For the people that answered with undecided, their main reasons all were somewhat related to one another’s. The responses were often, “They both suck I don’t even know,” or, “I don’t like either.”

Now to evaluate on the ones who actually picked a side, it’s almost hard to even label it that. Most who chose either Trump or Hillary was followed by the phrase, “lesser of two evils,” or, “if I had to choose.”

Out of the five people who chose Trump, only one made the decision based on what they really thought was right for the country and not which one is, “the lesser of two evils.”

Out of the four people who chose Hillary, once again, only one made their choice out of pure interest and felt that Trump wasn’t even a valid option.

Out of the five people that were undetermined, all five expressed in some way that they were both not worth voting for in the end.

Despite the confusion and all of the debates back and forth between people defending their side, there is no escaping the fact that on November 8, 2016, we will elect a new president.
