On Sunday, October 9, 2016, the second presidential debate was held in St. Louis, Missouri. Finally, America fell in love with somebody on the debate stage, but it wasn’t Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. It was Kenneth Bone.

Ken Bone was an undecided voter. Forty uncommitted registered voters from St. Louis were selected to ask the candidates a question during the town hall debate.  He was one of those individuals chosen to participate.

Mr. Bone stood up to ask his question near the end of the debate. He asked the candidates about their energy policies, “What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?”

According to the New York Times, Ken works 12-hour shifts as a control-room operator at a coal-fired power plant on a regular basis.

He instantly became an American hero and internet sensation.

Before the debate, Ken said that he had seven Twitter followers. Currently, he has 241,000 followers on Twitter.

Ken wore a bright red sweater overtop of a white button-down shirt with khaki slacks. He is a heavier set gentleman with a calm complexion and likable name, face, and personality. His mustache gives people a good laugh. Bone looked cuddly and “huggable” to most Americans watching at home.

When the debate was over, Ken whipped out a disposable camera and snapped a couple photos of the event. This is another reason why he won over the hearts of American viewers. People saw him taking pictures on a throw-away camera with the flash on; many thought it was comical.

A day after the debate, the iconic red sweater that Ken Bone wore had sold out on Amazon.

Ken told CNN that his outfit was an emergency wardrobe change. Originally, Bone was going to wear an olive suit given to him by his grandfather. As he got into his car with the olive suit on, Ken split his pants. He said that the he gained about 30 pounds since he wore the suit last.

Many people believe that Ken Bone represents hope and joy. Ken made the people of this country forget about the troublesome and embarrassing 2016 election.  He is a good and decent person; he portrayed a great deal of happiness. This is the kind of person that America is yet to see.  A large amount of Americans don’t see good in any of two candidates running for President.

Who was the winner of the second presidential debate? That’s an easy question. It was Kenneth Bone.
