Fans Wait With Bated Breath in Anticipation of the Nintendo NX
October 31, 2016
To step up to the plate in the arms race against Sony, Nintendo is on the cusp of releasing news of their newest console, the Nintendo NX.
Things have been difficult for Nintendo in the world of consoles. The Wii made a huge splash when it came out in 2006 but when the Wii U tried to carry on the legacy left behind by its predecessor it failed rather miserably. This allowed Sony and Microsoft to begin to dominate the market of non-handheld video gaming once again. Even though, however, Nintendo now has a score to settle most of the world was surprised by the announcement of a new console at the time they did.
The existence of the NX has been known to the world for a while, being announced in March, 2015 at a press conference by Nintendo’s late CEO Satoru Iwata. Iwata described the product codenamed the “NX” as “a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept.” Shortly after, as a whole Nintendo confirmed the launch of the NX in March, 2017. However it will not be showcased at E3 2016.
What little that is known of the NX is seemingly very innovative and interesting, which has always been what allows Nintendo to keep up with Sony and Microsoft, who make much safer calls and take less liberties in favor of putting more raw power and processing capabilities into their consoles. Many are speculating that the NX will be a hybrid of a console and a handheld because, after all, Nintendo rules the market of handheld gaming with a fist of iron.
Fans theorize that there will be some way of setting up the NX to a TV via some sort of dock, and then being able to remove the system from the TV dock and take it on the go. That is to be taken with a grain of salt however, because Nintendo is famous for its dedication to the silent treatment. There is hope that more will be released to the public on the matter later in September, but until then we can just guess.
In slightly other news, the newest game in the Legend of Zelda series, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is having its release date of 2016 pushed back several months so that it can launch along with the NX. Similarly to how Nintendo pushed back Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, so it could be played on the newer Wii instead of the Gamecube.
