Spider-Man: He’s the hero we deserve, and the one the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs right now
May 3, 2016
Since the disappointment that was Avengers: Age of Ultron, there has been a certain spark missing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The world of fun and adventure that they had created seemed to lack life as its flaws began to shine through. However, hope has arrive in the MCU with the recent TV spots for Captain America: Civil War showing our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man back on the big screen.
As mentioned before, Marvel’s recent Avengers: Age of Ultron served as waking call for fans that perhaps the MCU was getting old with its forced jokes and lack of emotional impact. However, Spider-Man will now answer the call to put our Marvel movies back on track.
As seen in the Captain America: Civil War TV spots, he already possesses the humor and wit that so many fans love. But unlike Marvel movie’s in the past, it flows and matches the character’s personality so that his jokes, despite them being in clearly tense moments, feel natural and fitting of his character. This is not something that can be said about previous MCU “joke” moments.
That being said, humor will not be the only component to gain from the arrival of the Web-Head named Spider-Man. Already, the web-slinging hero is involved in serious issues during Captain America: Civil War as he fights for what he believes is right.
That being said, having such a young hero could lead to the events that occur in the MCU to hold greater consequence, which isn’t usually the case. Seeing such a young face, a child, deal with the twisted minds of villains could a layer of grit to the “happy-go-lucky” world the MCU seem to currently have built.
Ultimately, it is the numerous amount of comics, many of which involve appearances from other heroes which could lead to some potential super-cameos from the Avengers, with a wide array of interesting story lines that is most exciting. An arsenal of narrative material has been opened with the arrival of Spider-Man which means the MCU will reach new horizons with its storytelling.
All in all, superhero fans better watch their wallets as Captain America: Civil War will only make us hungrier for the 2017 Spider-Man movie titled Spider-Man: Homecoming which will star Tom Holland, who was of course involved in the making of Captain America: Civil War for the segments that included our beloved Spidey.
