“A person is a person, no matter how small.”
Seussical Jr. is a must-see, meaningful, family friendly musical featuring the iconic characters of Dr. Seuss’s nursery rhymes. Seussical follows the story of Horton the elephant, who discovers a special speck of dust that contains a tiny town called “Whoville!” Throughout the show, he stays true to himself and doesn’t give up on safeguarding Whoville, as the whole Jungle of Nool bullies him because of it. JoJo, a small Who living in Whoville, befriends Horton and the Cat in the Hat. The Cat in the Hat inspires JoJo to go against his strict parents and “think all the things you can think!” In the end, Horton and JoJo save Whoville despite all the odds against them by never giving up on their dreams.
RGMS students transformed viewers into the magical world of Dr. Suess, filled with vibrant colors and characters played by very talented 7th and 8th graders. It even features adorable appearances from an elementary cast of 4th grade students and younger. Featuring an elementary cast makes the show more inclusive and inspires the next generation of performers. Going in, I thought Seussical Jr. was going to be a cheesy, feel-good show. But I left the auditorium with a different view of my life and the world around me. A show that you can learn from is the best type of show, it’s truly unforgettable.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Seussical Jr for an incredible show!
