When people think of art, they might think of drawing a flower or painting a sunset. But art is much more than basic; it is a skill-enhancing hobby that can challenge your mind while having fun. If you’re interested in taking a course to test your skills, Seneca Valley offers multiple classes in grades 7 through 12.
Designed to inspire creativity, enhance skills, and provide students with a platform to express themselves, these programs offer diverse opportunities for artistic exploration. From visual arts to performing arts, there’s something for everyone. In our art classes, students can explore various techniques, including painting, drawing, pottery, and digital art. Jason Shorr, the middle school art instructor, and Jason Woolslare, the High School art instructor, lead them.
Outside the classroom, students can become part of Seneca’s art clubs! These middle and high school clubs foster a nurturing environment where students can collaborate and showcase their ideas to a supportive audience. It’s a great opportunity to be part of a creative community!
“I think it’s wonderful! I’ve been a part of the art department for as long as I can remember. The teachers here are absolutely wonderful and know how to support a student in whatever they want to create, no matter what it is.” Says Miles Bornes, a senior at Seneca Valley. “Realism and cartoons, and everything in between, they can help! I’ve had many opportunities from field trips to art shows where I’ve won many awards over the years, and I’m so grateful to have the community here.”
In conclusion, our art programs at Seneca Valley nurture confidence, collaboration, and community engagement. Whether you are enhancing your skills or simply having fun, there is a space for everyone to explore their creativity. Students are encouraged to get involved and showcase their talents while actively participating in the art community. So grab your paintbrush and pens, and experience the power of art!
